Clarets linked to Red Devils trio

DOWNHEARTED Clarets fans have been boosted by the news that the club have been linked with a move for three of Manchester United's up-and-coming stars.

Burnley fans have suffered a torrid time of late, with news of 13 released players following a 7-2 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in the last home game of a stuttering season.

However, with manager Stan Ternent admitting that 'major surgery' is needed to prepare his squad for next season, possible arrivals are already being suggested.

Michael Stewart is the first being eyed by Ternent, who is on good terms with Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson, with the midfielder possibly being loaned out for a season to gain experience.

The decision to release both Marlon Beresford and Nik Michopolous has left The Clarets without a goalkeeper, and the second United man to be linked is prodigious young shot-stopper Luke Steele.

Thirdly Danny Pugh is also being linked, and all three may well view a season gathering experience under Ternent and at a welcoming Turf Moor would be a huge benefit to their burgeoning careers.
