REAL SOCIEDAD goalkeeper Sander Westerveld has been recalled to the Holland squad for the friendly against Argentina.

Westerveld has been in superb form this season as the Basque club lead La Liga and it is the former Liverpool shot-stopper's first appearance in the squad since May last year.

His inclusion by Dick Advocaat is due to the injury to Fulham keeper Edwin van der Sar and the Dutch national coach believes there is a chance for people to impress in the February 12 tussle in the Amsterdam ArenA.

"It's a pity that van der Sar is injured," lamented Advocaat to the KNVB website.

"But these unfortunate cases give other players the opportunity to show their talent during a training camp."

Ajax starlet Rafael van der Vaart and PSV Eindhoven's Andre Ooijer are also absent injured but Mark van Bommel and Pierre van Hooijdonk return to the squad.
