EDGAR DAVIDS has responded to the latest round of rumours concerning his future by stressing he wants to remain at Juventus.

The Dutch midfielder has been a permanent fixture among the transfer gossip columns since the close season, and there has been fresh talk that he could depart Stadio Delle Alpi in the New Year.

The latest reports in Italy suggest he will trade places with Manchester United's Juan Sebastian Veron, although the Old Trafford side would appear to have little need for a new defensive midfielder.

"I want to stay," affirmed Davids. "I am myself always Juventino."

Despite the proclamations, the former Milan star is certain to be mentioned as a possible makeweight in all manner of swap deals as the Serie A transfer market prepares for a busy period when the window re-opens.
