Veron in fresh Lazio hint

JUAN SEBASTIAN VERON is refusing to rule out an emotional return to the club he holds close to his heart - Lazio.

The Manchester United midfielder has repeatedly been tipped for a reunion with the biancoceleste after enduring a mixed first year at Old Trafford.

Veron has never flattened the rumours and has always claimed he would relish the prospect of moving back to the Eternal City.

A British record £28 million capture when he arrived at United last summer, Veron has not justified the mammoth outlay.

Though The Red Devils are determined to hang on to the Argentine's services, the rumour-mill will not grind to a halt.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has expressed his faith that Veron will cut the mustard in The Premiership but the 27-year-old admits he cannot discount a return to Stadio Olimpico.

Veron has jetted into Rome after Argentina's disastrous World Cup and stated Lazio is the club that would persuade him to leave Old Trafford.

"I have a contract with Manchester United but anything can happen," said Veron.

"Alex Ferguson has told me that he believes in me but things change every day.

"There are chances for me to return to Lazio, although I know that Lazio are in a difficult situation currently.

"If I did choose to move to Lazio, I would take that choice with my heart. I will return to Lazio if there is an opportunity to do so.

"My heart has always been blue and white, for Lazio and the national team. It's difficult to forget the experience of winning the Scudetto."
