ARSENAL and Manchester United have shown an interest in Roma's Antonio Carlos Zago, and the defender is ready to make a decision on his future before the end of the month.
The experienced Brazilian has been linked with a number of Premiership clubs, including Leeds United, Chelsea, Southampton and Liverpool, but his agent, Franco Zavaglia, has confirmed title rivals Arsenal and Manchester United have shown a determination to snap him up.
If Zago does not sign a new deal with Roma, he will be available on a Bosman free transfer this summer, and there are other English teams in the frame as possible destinations for the 32-year-old.
"I am not so sure that Zago is close to signing a new deal with Roma," Zavaglia exclusively told planetfootball.com.
"I think he has to think before signing for Giallorossi.
"There are a lot of points to think about before signing a deal. One of those things is that he has not been playing recently.
"Yes, there is something in the reports that he has received offers from English clubs.
"Zago has been contacted by Arsenal and Manchester United, but we did not find an agreement.
"But, yes, he still has links with some English clubs.
"He absolutely does not have a problem about moving to England. He would move to The Premiership.
"We should not have to wait too long before knowing about Zago's future.
"The player will make a decision before the end of March."
Roma are only offering the South American a one-year deal, as he seeks the security of a longer contract, and president Franco Sensi has shown a dislike for Zavaglia during past dealings.
