Despite the United ace not featuring in either England's stunning 5-1 win against Germany or the 2-0 win over Albania, the Red Devils boss believes his young starlet is better than current England pairing Rio Ferdinand and Sol Campbell.
"I think Wes Brown is the best in England, he's better than Sol Campbell, he's better than Rio Ferdinand, he will be a fantastic player," he said.
Meanwhile, United skipper Roy Keane insists managers still have the ultimate power in football and not players.
Many people believed that the result of the Bosman ruling gave players a free licence in the game, but the Republic of Ireland international points to Jaap Stam's transfer to Lazio as proof that is not the case.
"His (Stam's) transfer to Lazio illustrates how little power footballers have in the game. Contracts mean nothing," Keane wrote in the Daily Telegraph.
"He (Stam) has discovered that, to football clubs, players are just expensive pieces of meat.
"The harsh realities remain and when a club decide they want to sell there is little you can do once the wheels are in motion."
