Blackburn Rovers and Everton were both immediately suggested as possible locations for Greening - who was placed on the list at his own request.
The 22-year-old winger is seeking first team football, and has chosen to leave Old Trafford to further his career.
However, with the transfer deadline looming large, both The Toffees and Rovers have denied that they are set to move for the England Under-21 international.
Blackburn chief executive John Williams stated: "There's nothing in that at all. Back in the Autumn, when we were looking to buy Marcus Bent, his name was mentioned as a possible alternative.
"But that was never taken any further. And, barring any late conversation with Graeme, we have no plans to bring in anyone before the deadline."
Everton also quickly stemmed speculation, with manager Walter Smith saying: "There has been nothing at all with regards to that."
Barnsley became the third club to deny an intention of landing the former York man, when quickly dismissing rumours that they were attempting a beat-the-deadline loan raid on Old Trafford.
