MONACO midfielder Ousmane Dabo has completed his switch to Serie A side Vicenza where he will spend the rest of the season on loan.
The 22-year-old has been linked with moves to Marseille and Manchester United, but has always maintained that he regards the Italian League as the best in the world and the ideal place for him to prove himself.
He has already played in Italy and sees his stay there as an opportunity to impress the top sides in Europe.
"Some will think that my choice is surprising," said Dabo. "But in Vicenza everyone wants me to join, and if it works well I could well rebound somewhere else.
"I have had problems ever since I arrived in Monaco and I think that everyone at the club is happy for me to leave."
Dabo had been linked with a swap deal with Marseille's Jerome Leroy, but it is now expected that the reigning French Champions might well sign him anyway.
Manchester United's Mickael Silvestre is a good friend of Dabo and Alex Ferguson was said to be interested in signing the Frenchman, but he has now opted to follow his dream and prove himself in Italy.
Vicenza have made further delves into the transfer market, taking Milan's Croatian midfielder Drazen Brncic and Juventus defender Marco Zanchi on loan until the end of the season.
Brncic was signed by Milan from Serie B club Monza during the summer but has been unable to establish himself at The Rossonerri
Zanchi joined Juve from Udinese in the summer but has also found it difficult to break into the first-team.
