MANCHESTER UNITED winger Luke Chadwick has been backed to have a big future in the game, after starring in the 3-0 Worthington Cup win over Watford on Tuesday.

The England Under-21 international has returned to Old Trafford after spending a period on loan with Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp, and has made a good impression with the Red Devils.

The 19-year-old set up two of United's goals in the win, the opening strikes for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Dwight Yorke, and pressed his claim for more regular inclusions.

"If he keeps his feet on the ground he can have a tremendous future," said assistant manager Steve McClaren. "We loaned Luke out to Antwerp last season and for the first part of this season.

"He helped them win promotion and has been playing in the Belgian First Division. It's great to see someone running at defenders and gliding by them.

"He just seems to float. He's got that freedom of expression you rarely see in football these days.

"Luke's a real throwback to the old-fashioned wingers of the past and it's great to see. He's a real talent."
