The Norwegian international has been left on the sidelines at the start of the new season, finding himself pushed down the pecking order at Old Trafford following the return from injury of Ronny Johnsen and Wes Brown.
This has left him kicking his heels on the bench which he has already admitted is not ideal for his international chances.
On Saturday, his agent Rune Hauge admitted that he was desperately trying to find Berg a new club, with fellow representative Erik Soler revealing that he knew of clubs in Germany in search of a central defender.
One of those clubs is Eintracht Frankfurt, and they are now set to make an approach to United with a view to teaming him up with fellow countryman and ex-international colleague Jan Aage Fjortoft after watching him in action for Norway against Finland and Armenia.
"Eintracht need a central defender and Henning is one of those being considered," revealed Soler. "I have spoken to Henning about German football in general, and my impression is that Henning wants to stay in England.
"I brought Eintracht to Finland to watch a few players, with Henning being one of them," Soler added, although he admits that no approach has yet been made by Frankfurt manager Felix Magath.
"Not that I know of," he stated. "I do not know if any of the parties are ready for such a transfer."
Blackburn Rovers manager Graeme Souness is looking to take him back to Ewood Park, where he made a name for himself in the Premiership, and Celtic were also believed to be interested in him.
Rovers chief exeutive John Williams: "Henning Berg's name has been mentioned, along with Rigobert Song at Liverpool."
