New Bantams manager Chris Hutchings sealed the £2.5 million transfer of David Hopkin on Friday and immediately voiced his intention to follow up that transfer, and the double signing of Ian Nolan and Peter Atherton earlier in the week.
"We've still got one or two irons in the fire," he admitted. "We are very ambitious. There is a couple of bob left and we are looking to improve the squad even further."
Greening, a £1 million buy from York City two years ago, has been linked with a number of clubs this summer when he angered manager Sir Alex Ferguson by failing to sign a contract to extend his Old Trafford stay.
The highly-rated striker was immediately linked with moves to Derby, Preston, Barnsley and Spurs, but it is now believed that Bradford City are following up their interest in him as they prepare for their second Premiership campaign.
However, reports that the fee would be £3 million appear to be some way off, with it being more likely that he would cost in the region of £2 million to £2.5 million.
