Crystal Palace have begun their search for a next manager having sacked Neil Warnock following the 3-1 defeat to Southampton on Boxing Day.

That sixth successive game without a win has seen them drop into the relegation zone, with Keith Millen put in temporary charge ahead of Sunday's clash with QPR.

We take a look at the favourites to fill the vacancy according to Sky Bet’s odds.

Tony Pulis - 5/2

Less than six months after leaving the club by mutual consent, could Pulis be returning to Selhurst Park? The punters certainly seem to think there is a chance, backing him into favourite shortly after Warnock's departure, and it would certainly appear a wise appointment. Pulis won the Premier League's manager of the year award last season after impressively steering the club to safety, with the Eagles having been 1/20 for relegation when he took the reins.

Tim Sherwood - 3/1

The former Tottenham boss was swiftly installed as the bookmakers' favourite to replace Warnock before Pulis attracted the majority of the interest. Sherwood was interviewed for the job in August after Tony Pulis' shock exit, but ruled himself out after the process dragged on.

Tony Popovic - 8/1

The former Australia international has strong ties with the Eagles, having played for the club for five seasons before returning in 2011 as part of Dougie Freedman's backroom set-up. Popovic has a burgeoning reputation, boosted last month by leading Western Sydney Wanderers to the Asian Champions League.

Chris Hughton - 8/1

Out of work since being sacked by Norwich in April, the former Newcastle and Birmingham boss is amongst the bookmakers' favourites to replace Warnock. Hughton guided the Canaries to 11th in the Premier League in the 2012/13 season.

Alternative options

Martin Jol

Former England boss Glenn Hoddle reportedly turned down the chance to speak to Crystal Palace in August, having only recently become a coach at QPR, and is considered amongst the outsiders for the job this time round at 10/1. Martin Jol is the same price and has not had a managerial position since leaving Fulham last year, while Dougie Freedman, who begun his managerial career with Palace before leaving for Bolton, is also considered a 10/1 chance.
