We look back at the top five highlights for Arsenal fans during the last 12 months.
FA Cup win
After so long without a trophy, beating Hull City 3-2 at Wembley was a relief for everyone concerned at Arsenal, especially after going 2-0 down after nine minutes. Arsene Wenger finally got his hands on some silverware after a nine-year wait and silence some, if not all, of his critics.
Sanchez signing and his big impact
Liverpool bid more than Arsenal for Alexis Sanchez, but Barcelona allowed the Chilean to decide. Thankfully for Wenger he chose north London over Merseyside and his all-action style has made him an instant hero at the Emirates. Thirteen goals from his first 20 games in all competitions is a terrific return and his performances have shone through, despite Arsenal's inconsistent start to the campaign.
Ramsey's Champions League goal at Galatasaray
With his weaker foot, on the half volley and from a least 30 yards out, Aaron Ramsey's goal against Galatasaray was so good, even the opposition fans stood to applaud the Welshman. Ramsey was not at his absolute best in the latter part of 2014 but his sweet strike to sink the Turkish giants is up there with the best ever scored in Europe's elite club competition.
Podolski v Bayern
It is never a surprise when a player scores against their former club, it seems like it’s written in the stars. Given that Lukas Podolski has struggled to find his top form at Arsenal in 2014, it was a sweet moment for the German when he outmuscled international team-mate Philip Lahm and unleashed a fierce left-foot shot.
Walcott reminding Spurs fans of the score
Knocking your local rivals out of the FA Cup is always going to give you immense pleasure, even more so when you’re inflicting their new manager’s first defeat. The only downside was Theo Walcott being carried off on a stretcher, but the cheeky England international made light of abuse from Tottenham fans as he was carried past the away section at the Emirates, and, with a smile, reminded them of the score.
