Sky Sports Fantasy Football: Our scout looks at which players you should consider signing this weekend

Our scout looks at whether the game's new top scorer is worth selecting and offers up four other in-form options.

Daryl Janmaat - £6m

The Dutch defender racked up a remarkable 20 points in the last Gameweek thanks to a goal, two assists, a clean sheet and the Sky Sports man-of-the-match award. That haul nearly doubled his tally for the season, taking it up to 48 as Newcastle’s upturn in form shows no sign of relenting. The Magpies have kept three clean sheets from their last four league games and also managed to blunt Manchester City’s attack in their Capital One Cup win. Paul Dummett is a cheaper option at just £4.5m and has made the left-back spot his own this season. The Magpies should have a good chance of racking up another clean sheet when QPR visit on Saturday, although the man up next might have something to say about that.

Charlie Austin - £7.1m

The QPR striker has well and truly silenced his doubters with his impressive first campaign in the Premier League, netting six times to rack up 58 points. Four of those goals have come in the last three games including an opener against Manchester City, which he was unlucky not to add to. The fact that Harry Redknapp has now constructed a side to feed Austin means opportunities are sure to keep coming his way, while a record of 43 goals in 78 Championship appearances in his previous two campaigns suggest he’ll continue to take them. At £7.1m, only Saido Berahino and Diafra Sahko (both £6.9m) match him for value in the striker department and previous form suggests he is the most likely to maintain the free-scoring.

Harry Kane - £6.7m

The Tottenham youngster has some way to go before proving he has what it takes to be a prolific Premier League striker but Mauricio Pochettino seems convinced. Kane was handed the responsibility of leading the line ahead of out-of-form duo Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado in Spurs’ final game before the international break and, while he failed to net in that defeat to Stoke, still looks an interesting proposition. The north London outfit are undoubtedly underperforming but if Pochettino can get the best out of his talented squad and Kane can retain his starting berth then he could prove a real bargain. While he has only netted once in the Premier League this year, a dramatic winner in their comeback victory at Aston Villa, Kane actually has nine goals to his name in all competitions, including eight in his last nine appearances.

More from Fantasy Football

Sergio Aguero - £9.8m

The Manchester City striker replaced Alexis Sanchez as the game’s top points scored with a brace at QPR, taking his tally 86 points with his 11th and 12th goals of the season. Plenty will be weighing up whether to go with Aguero or Diego Costa with the pair seemingly embroiled is a two-way battle for the top goalscorer award, which is certainly reflected in Sky Bet’s odds with Aguero favourite at 10/11. Their markets offer us no help in working out which one is most likely to net this weekend, with both just 1/2 against West Brom and Swansea respectively. Those considering bringing in both can balance the books with some of the options we’ll look at next.

Nemanja Matic - £7.8m

It doesn’t look as though there will be any stopping Chelsea in the Premier League this season, so it’s time for Sky Sports Fantasy Football managers to start thinking how they can exploit their form. The Blues are four points clear at the top of the table and eight ahead of their only genuinely perceived threat in Manchester City, with Sky Bet now going 1/6 on Chelsea winning the league. Beyond the obvious trio of Diego Costa (£9.5m), Cesc Fabregas (8.6m) and Eden Hazard (£8.9m), there’s a certain gem only a small percentage of managers have considered. With only 4.18% of users picking Nemanja Matic for their side, compared to over 35% who have Fabregas, the Serbian could prove a cheap and subtle points collector in your midfield. In fact, he’s Chelsea’s fourth-best performer in the game with 49 points and, having already contributed a goal, two assists and a Sky Sports Man of the Match award, he offers something in every department. Best of all, he’s available for just £7.3m, which is a cheaper rate than Oscar (£8.2m), Willian (£7.8m) and Ramires (£7.5m), who have each accumulated fewer points for the Blues.
