Tottenham midfielder Nabil Bentaleb signs new long-term deal

Tottenham midfielder Nabil Bentaleb has signed a new five-year contract at White Hart Lane.

The Algerian enjoyed a breakthrough season last year, making 35 appearances in all competitions as he established himself as a first-team regular in the Spurs midfield.

"The club is delighted to announce that Nabil Bentaleb has signed a new five-year contract, which runs until 2020," read a club statement.

Bentaleb first appearance at Tottenham was as a trialist in September 2011 and he  made his senior debut at Southampton in December, 2013.

He made 20 appearances twp seasons ago and was part of the Algeria squad that made it to the knockout stages of the World Cup in Brazil last summer.

He made a further 35 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham last season, scoring his first goal in a 4-0 win against Newcastle in the Capital One Cup in December.

He said: "I'd like to say thanks to the club, thanks to my family and thanks to the fans for the support."
