Burnley full-back Kieran Trippier appears close to joining Tottenham after Clarets manager Sean Dyche confirmed the transfer was an "active deal".

The 24-year-old right-back has been linked with a switch to Mauricio Pochettino's men and Sky sources revealed on Tuesday that a deal was close following Burnley's relegation out of the Barclays Premier League last season.

The Clarets have already lost 11-goal striker Danny Ings to Liverpool and now Trippier, who was an ever-present for Dyche's side in the top flight and contributed four assists, could also follow him out of Turf Moor.

Dyche addressed the speculation regarding the former Manchester City trainee at the unveiling of the club's new shirt on Wednesday and confirmed Spurs were keen on the defender.

“It’s an active deal, although it’s not quite there at the moment. We will see how that comes out in the next 24 to 36 hours,” Dyche told Sky Sports News HQ.

“Kieran has been a fantastic servant to the club, both before I was here and with me and I’ve enjoyed having him here.

“He was excellent in his mindset last season, he signed a new contract to make sure he was here and he wanted to be here last season and experience the Premier League with this club.

“For that to happen we made sure we respected him by making sure that if we didn’t stay in the Premier League, then he could have the option to go to another club, and that’s how it’s looking at the moment.”
