Stoke City have completed the signing of goalkeeper Jakob Haugaard on a three-year deal.
The highly-regarded former Denmark youth international joins from FC Midtjylland - who won the Danish title this season - and has agreed terms on a three-year deal at the Britannia.
Haugaard told the club's official website: “I am very happy and incredibly proud to have signed for Stoke City; this is a huge opportunity for me.
“I have known of the interest from Stoke City for quite a while now, in fact it was back in December when I first spoke to my agent about it.
“I am absolutely delighted that it is all completed now and I can look forward to coming over to England to begin the next chapter of my career.
“I know that the club has made tremendous progress over the last couple of years. Mark Hughes has brought a new style of play to the side and it is one that I like very much. I can’t wait to work with him and his staff.
“It is a great team with a great manager, so it is an opportunity that I was never going to turn down. I can’t wait to get over there and start training.”
His arrival is likely to intensify speculation regarding Asmir Begovic's future at the club. The Bosnia international has been linked with Liverpool and Manchester United.
Chief executive Tony Scholes said: "We are delighted to have captured our second signing of the close season, by bringing Jakob to the club.
"He is a goalkeeper that has been admired from afar by our first-team management for some time now so naturally we are pleased to have been able to conclude the deal. With Thomas Sorensen departing this summer, adding an additional goalkeeper to the squad had been highlighted as something of a priority for us."
