Leicester have announced Danny Simpson will be not be considered for the first team while the club examines current legal proceedings against the player.
Simpson has said he plans to appeal against his conviction for assaulting his former partner.
The former Newcastle defender - who pleaded not guilty - will be sentenced next month.
Simpson made 18 appearances for Leicester this season, the last in March's 2-0 defeat to Manchester City.
Ward has issued a statement saying she is upset at the outcome of the trial and did not support the prosecution.
