Burnley manager Sean Dyche praises his team despite relegation

Sean Dyche admitted he expected the 0-0 draw with Stoke to be Danny Ings' last home game for Burnley.

Ings was subject to a bid from Liverpool in the January transfer window and is out of contract this summer.

When asked if it was the player’s last game at Turf Moor, Dyche said: "I don't think I need to say too much.

"It's good to see his development, it looks like it won't continue with us but we have played a big part in his development."

Already-relegated Burnley once again failed to score, but the man the fans call the 'Ginger Mourinho' was full of praise for his team.

He said: “I think yet again we had pride in the performance. I thought the players took the game on; we wanted them to do that.

"I am really proud of the players because that was a big knock last week. To come out that and deliver a performance on the back of that, I am very proud."

A lack of firepower has been the Lancashire side's Achilles heel this season as they have scored just 27 times this season and Dyche admitted a dearth of goals had been frustrating.

"That has been a frustration all season, that is the reality of going up the levels, you have to take chances," he added. "You have to make the big moments yours. Once again, generally it was a good performance, we defended well, we had good shape, good energy, created chances - got to take them. That's the frustration this season for sure.

“I think it’s not just the effort and endeavour, that’s been a given for us all season. I think we had three chances in the first twenty minutes and you’ve got to score two of them. Scoring goals has been our nemesis this season."

The Clarets end their one-season stay in the Premier League at Aston Villa on May 24.
