Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has congratulated Chelsea on their “deserved” Premier League title victory.
Last year’s champions City beat Tottenham 1-0 at White Hart Lane to all but secure Champions League football for next season, while Chelsea claimed the title with a 1-0 win at home to Crystal Palace earlier on Sunday.
And Hart, speaking after the win, says that although the west London club were worthy winners, City will be back next season.
He told Sky Sports: “First of all congratulations to Chelsea, well deserved of winning the league.
“They did lead from the front, which we've done before and struggled to keep. Great respect to them.
“But they know we'll be back next year, we'll get stronger, other teams around us will get stronger, and it's going to be another exciting season.”
Hart made a string of fine saves in the narrow win at Tottenham, the only goal coming courtesy of Sergio Aguero in the 29th minute.
And although City have not had the season many at the club would have hoped, Hart says the players are defiant and will come good.
“Today showed what we're about. We did what people have done to us.
“We don't answer to anyone, we answer to ourselves. We answer to our fans, our owners, and our players. That's who we are and is how we've always been.”
