Manuel Pellegrini refused to say whether he will stay as Manchester City manager next season after his side's 1-0 win at Tottenham, and says his side won the league with a different style to Chelsea's last term.
The win all but secured City's top four place in the Premier League this term, but last year's champions had been tipped for better things under the Chilean in the 2014/15 season.
They were also knocked out of all three cup competitions before quarter-final stage, but Pellegrini would not talk about his future at the Etihad Stadium.
When asked if he is the right man for Manchester City, Pellegrini told Sky Sports: "I do not want to answer that question," before walking away from the post-match interview.
Pellegrini insists his side can challenge for the Premier League title again next season, after Chelsea were crowned champions on Sunday.
The 61-year-old also said City won the league with an alternative style to Chelsea's last season, and that it is vital for the pull of the Premier League that teams play attractive football.
"I am not thinking about the gap," he said in his post-match press conference. "I think Chelsea did this year exactly what we did last year - they won the Premier League and they won the Capital One Cup.
"We did exactly the same last year, scoring more goals in another style.
"I think it is important for the Premier League and it is important for the fans to play attractive football. That's why I just said that we won playing another style.
"We did exactly the same that Chelsea did this year, but we scored last year 158 goals and in this whole season 101 in the Premier League, 27 in the Capital One Cup.
"This team continues as the most scoring team. That side is important, to continue winning in that sense.
"This team always has a challenge for next season. I think that next year we must improve because we lost too many easy points this year."
Sergio Aguero scored the only goal of the game at White Hart Lane, taking his Premier League tally to 22 this term, and Pellegrini is pleased the Argentine is on a run of appearances.
"Finally he is playing games in a row and not stopping for injury. I am sure he will continue improving because he is just 26 years old."
