Charlie Adam hopes the impact he made after coming off the bench in Stoke's 1-0 win against Hull proves he is worthy of a regular starting spot in the team.
Adam delivered a pin-point cross for fellow substitute Peter Crouch to head home the only goal of the game as Stoke recorded their second win in succession.
But the former Liverpool and Rangers midfielder has found first-team chances limited this season and the 29-year-old admits the last few months have been extremely frustrating.
"It's difficult and frustrating when you're not playing and I'm no different from anyone else who's not playing," Adam told Sky Sports News HQ.
"But hopefully after coming on at half-time today and setting up the goal we can keep on winning games as we have done today.
"It's not about sending a message (to the manager). I’m frustrated not playing.
"It’s a disappointment but it’s important when I do get an opportunity - like any lad sitting on the bench when they get an opportunity - it’s important I show that I’m pushing for a place and I’m ready.
"I have prepared myself. It’s been October since I last started which is a long time and hopefully performances like that will put me in contention to get more opportunities."
Crouch’s goal levelled Alan Shearer’s record of 46 Premier League headers scored and defender Philipp Wollscheid praised his team-mate’s aerial prowess.
"His goal I think was really similar to the one he scored at Newcastle," Wollscheid said. "We know he is always dangerous and really difficult to defend against being as tall as he is. He always gives us great opportunities."
