Leicester defender Danny Simpson is confident they can improve on their poor run of form to turn their season around and maintain their top-flight status.

Nigel Pearson’s side are bottom of the Premier League having not won in their last 12 matches but Simpson believes they have what it takes to pull clear of the drop zone.

"It’s obviously tough at the moment, but we are still positive,” Simpson told Sky Sports News HQ.

"I think the margins are so small. Any Leicester fans watching should know how hard we are trying.

“We are giving it a go and we are doing well, it’s just certain moments in certain games that are going against us.

“We have got to keep going and we are positive it will turn around. We are confident it is going to change and I think people can see that watching the matches.

“It is nice to have a couple of games in a short period to put the points on the board.

“Sometimes when you play Saturday/Saturday, you have got to wait a week (to play again).

“Everyone enjoys the Christmas period. Hopefully we can really pick up some points and kick-start our season."
