New arrival Marcos Rojo has called for patience at Manchester United as he believes silverware will arrive in due course.

Rojo, who joined from Sporting Lisbon for a reported £16million, was one of six major arrivals as United spent in excess of £150m on new recruits this summer.

The 24-year-old was joined at Old Trafford by Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw, Angel di Maria, Radamel Falcao and Daley Blind, following the arrival of new boss Louis van Gaal.

United are yet to collect a win under Van Gaal’s stewardship as they look to put last season’s disappointing seventh-place finish behind them, but Rojo remains full of optimism for the future.

"There are some great players in the team. We obviously need to give time so the new manager can build this team," he told Perform.

"But with the great names we have in our squad and the intelligence of the manager, I am sure many achievements will come along."

The capture of Rojo’s Argentina team-mate Angel di Maria alongside a season-long loan deal for Monaco striker Radamel Falcao attracted the most headlines.

Rojo said: "He (Di Maria) has got a lot of quality. He is very sharp and very fast so he can help a lot attacking in the other half.

"There are some good strikers in the squad. Falcao is always in the penalty box, he is very sharp and capable of making the most of any chance."

Rojo himself is just looking forward to getting started after work permit issues delayed his debut until after the international break, but he is now available to feature against QPR.

"It is a huge step forward in my career and my life and I am very happy to play for one of the best clubs in the world at the moment," he said.

"I will try to find my place as soon as possible and help in every way I can so we get important trophies."
