Vincent Kompany has saluted Manchester City's summer business, with fresh faces acquired and new deals agreed.

Four additions have been made at the Etihad Stadium, with Eliaquim Mangala, Fernando, Willy Caballero and Bacary Sagna joining the Premier League champions.

Their arrival will help to add depth to a squad already brimming with world-class talent.

They will also help to complement key men on Manuel Pellegrini’s books.

City have worked hard to ensure that the core of a successful side has been retained, with Samir Nasri, Aleksandar Kolarov, Sergio Aguero and club captain Kompany agreeing contact extensions.

It feels like a productive window for those in the City camp, with old and new pulling in the same direction.

Kompany said in the Manchester Evening News: “It is one thing to make new signings but it is another to make sure we have a core of players who know the league and have enjoyed success in the league – then we can move forward with a certain style and philosophy that has been successful for us.

“For me, it is important to see quality, new players coming but it is as important to see players like David Silva and Kolarov and Nasri remaining at the club.”
