Wolfsburg have rubbished reports suggesting that they may be willing to negotiate the sale of Ricardo Rodriguez to Manchester United.

Rumours in Germany claim that United have already sounded out a possible deal with the full-back’s agent Roger Wittmann.

It is reported that the Premier League side have turned their attention to Rodriguez as they prepare to lose Patrice Evra to Juventus.

If the experienced Frenchman does leave Old Trafford, then cover and competition will be required for big-money signing Luke Shaw.

Switzerland international Rodriguez is said to have been identified as a top target by Louis van Gaal, but Wolfsburg have no intention of entering into transfer talks.

Asked about reports of a meeting between United and Wittmann, Wolfsburg’s sporting director Klaus Allofs told Kicker: “That will have been a brief conversation.

“Ricardo is not going anywhere.”
