Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert was pleased with the performance of returning full-back Joe Bennett in his side's goalless draw at Cardiff.
The 23-year-old left-back made his first Premier League start of the season last Tuesday after spending four months on the sidelines with back injury.
Bennett, who was replaced by Andreas Weimann after 70 minutes, is now expected to make Lambert's squad for Sunday's trip to Newcastle.
"I thought he did great," Lambert told the Birmingham Mail. "That was his first hour or so in months. I thought he did ever so well considering he hasn't done much at all, he came in and I thought coped very well.
"He had the problem with his knee and then his back, but that's his first real test in earnest in four months or so.
"I don't think there's any issue with his confidence, it was only match fitness why we took him off."
