The two strikers linked up well in an entertaining game at the KC Stadium, with Long scoring 12 minutes into his home debut following a switch from West Bromwich Albion last month.
Jelavic also joined the club in January and Bruce believes their games complement each other.
"I thought Long and Jelavic were a handful all afternoon and, although the partnership is only in its early days, I think they will certainly be a threat for anyone who plays against them because they have the physicality of Jelavic and the pace of Long," said Bruce.
"Once he gets clear, he keeps clear, and it was a great finish and a wonderful debut.
"They are both good players who have been round the block a little bit and know what it's all about.
"I am convinced they will give us the platform which we will need to make sure we stay in this division."
Paulinho cancelled out Long's early goal to salvage a point for Tottenham, but Bruce was still satisfied with a draw to end a run of four straight defeats and boost their survival hopes.
He said: "On another day it could have been all three (points), against a very good Tottenham side.
"They are more adventurous under Tim and throw people forward, so you have to defend well, and I thought we did.
"But thankfully we're off that 23 points which we've been on for quite some time, and we're pleased to get something from the match."
