Jan Vertonghen has told the Belgian media that he would rather concentrate on being a central defender, rather than a 'jack of all trades.'
In Sunday's game at Everton, the Tottenham player was used as a left-back by manager Andre Villas-Boas because of injuries to Danny Rose and Kyle Naughton.
But Vertonghen does not want to be considered as a utility player, saying: "I can play at left-back and I can help the team at times.
"But everyone knows I am not a left-back. Once there are injuries I am the first to fill in the gap.
"Sometimes it's better if you can play in only one position.
"These guys specialise in one position and they can completely concentrate."
