Steven Gerrard is set to sign a new Liverpool deal today.
Sky sources understand the club captain will finalise a two-year contract before joining the squad on their tour of south-east Asia and Australia.
Gerrard's current deal has a year remaining and talks over a new one have been ongoing since the end of last season.
The 33-year-old, whose first senior appearance came almost 15 years ago, has captained his hometown club more than 250 times.
Liverpool's pre-season tour begins in Jakarta on Saturday with a game against an Indonesia XI.
Brendan Rodgers then takes his squad to Australia to tackle Melbourne Victory on Wednesday before the tour finishes up against Thailand in Bangkok next Sunday.
