Michael Laudrup hopes the feelgood factor at Swansea can inspire his side against a resurgent Newcastle on Saturday.

Swansea return to Premier League duty at the Liberty Stadium a week after lifting the Capital One Cup, courtesy of a 5-0 thrashing of Bradford at Wembley.

Laudrup admits there is a danger of his players losing focus after they booked their place in next season's Europa League through Sunday's triumph, but he has urged them to hunt down a new target.

"Newcastle are back on track after a couple of difficult months," Laudrup said.

"They signed five new players in January and they have had some very good results recently. They also have some injured players back, like (Yohan) Cabaye and (Hatem) Ben Arfa, so it is a really good team we are playing against.

"It's possible that my players might still be on a high after winning the cup. There might be a reaction - I am not sure.

"But I hope the players will go out there and try to play the best game of the season. We play at home, in front of our fans, and I hope my players will try to perform well for them.

"The fact we are in Europe has nothing to do with the league. We have been competitive the whole season, so we can't stop now.

"We still have 11 games to go and each one will have its own story. We have to play the top five and teams who are struggling at the bottom.

"But we can't stop being competitive - if we do that then we could lose every game. I still think we can reach 50 points and I think we can improve on last season's position."
