Alan Pardew says Moussa Sissoko may find it a lot more difficult against Tottenham on Saturday, than he did last weekend at home to Chelsea.
The 23-year-old French midfielder netted twice in a 3-2 victory over the Blues at St James Park in what was only his second game for the club since joining from Toulouse last month.
Newcastle travel to White Hart Lane on the back of two successive victories but Pardew believes Sissoko may be more closely marked on his third outing for his new club.
The United manager said: "He will find it more difficult from now on. He had a lot of room to run into against Chelsea.
"And if you give him the room, he's going to exploit it. Of course teams are going to make it much more difficult for him now."
Despite back-to-back league wins, Newcastle remain just six points above the relegation zone and Pardew knows the club still has a lot of work to do.
He added: "In the past, 37 or 38 points have been enough to avoid the drop but I have a feeling it won't be this year.
"We have got to keep working. We are by no means out of the situation."
