Sky Sports understands that Napoli are the latest club to make an enquiry over the availability of Marseille striker Loic Remy.
The France international has attracted attention from across Europe after some impressive displays in Ligue 1 over the past couple of seasons.
Newcastle United were believed to be in pole position earlier this month after identifying Remy as their No.1 target to replace Demba Ba.
A number of other Premier League clubs have been linked with the 26-year-old, including West Ham United, Queens Park Rangers and Arsenal.
But it is now understood that Napoli have entered the race to sign Remy and made contact with Marseille over a possible move.
There has been plenty of speculation about strikers possibly leaving or arriving at Napoli this month, with Mario Balotelli tipped to replace Edinson Cavani.
