Manchester City's Sergio Aguero has confirmed he has torn his hamstring and is receiving treatment in Italy.
The striker, who suffered the problem late in City's 3-0 win over Stoke on New Year's Day, missed Saturday's FA Cup third round tie with Watford and later announced the injury news on his Twitter page.
While manager Roberto Mancini had initially hoped to have his joint top-scorer back for next weekend's clash with Arsenal, this is now in doubt.
On his official Twitter page, Aguero said: "The studies confirmed I have a torn muscle.
"We have to keep on thinking positive and try to recover in the best way possible.
"For that, I've travelled to Italy where a specialist is treating me. I'll keep you up to date in how the injury evolves."
Carlos Tevez replaced his Argentina team-mate in City's 3-0 FA Cup win over Watford and scored the opener.
