The agent of Lokomotiv Moscow striker Roman Pavlyuchenko has played down reports linking his client with a move to Reading.
The Royals will be looking to strengthen in January, and firepower is something they have been short on so far.
Finding a proven goalscorer will be a priority for Brian McDermott, and Pavlyuchenko is among those said to be in his thoughts.
The Russia international has graced the Premier League before, during a four-year stint at Tottenham Hotspur between 2008 and 2012.
He struggled to hold down a regular role throughout his time at White Hart Lane, but still broke into double figures for each of his three full seasons in north London.
Speculation suggested Reading were ready to offer him a second shot at the English top-flight, but Pavlyuchenko's representative has rubbished the rumours.
"This is garbage, just information used to fill up space," Oleg Artemov told Sport-express.ru.
"In a word, it is gossip."
