Tottenham midfielder Scott Parker has expressed his delight after making a long-awaited return from injury last weekend.

Parker made a stoppage time cameo for Tottenham at Swansea, his first appearance of the season after suffering a torn Achilles during pre-season.

The England midfielder was a regular at Spurs under Harry Redknapp last season, making 34 appearances after moving from London rivals West Ham the previous summer.

Parker said: "I'd been out for quite some time and I'm just pleased to be back out there.

"My main objective now is to try and get as much game time as I can and try to get fully fit. It's still early, but I feel good and feel sharp. I'm certainly getting there."

Parker has also made appearances for Spurs Under-21s at Sunderland and Aston Villa as part of his recovery, scoring a goal in Tottenham's 3-0 victory at Villa Park.

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has already expressed his pleasure at Parker's return, telling the press at the weekend: "Parker will start regularly in our team.

"Like everyone else, he will have to compete for his place, but we recognize the importance of the player and rate him very highly. He offers us more possibilities, as well as experience and leadership."
