Roberto Martinez insisted he was proud of Wigan Athletic's efforts against Queens Park Rangers but unhappy not to come away with a victory.

The Latics had to settle for a 2-2 draw at the DW Stadium as James McCarthy's second of the game levelled the scores following goals from Ryan Nelsen and Djibril Cisse for QPR.

Martinez felt his side had dominated for long periods and would have been good value for all three points.

He told Sky Sports: "From our point of view it is disappointing to concede two goals.

"I did feel at the start of the second half we started clicking as a team, and we are disappointed that we couldn't get the three points.

"But when you get the away team going ahead, it is always a real test and we did really well.

"Considering we had seven players missing today, the performance was of the highest level from our point of view."
