Swansea right-back Angel Rangel claims recent talk of player unrest at the Liberty Stadium has only served to drive the Welsh club forward.

Speculation surfaced last month that members of the Swansea squad were unhappy under new manager Michael Laudrup's regime.

The Swans have climbed into the top half of the Premier League table and Spanish defender Rangel believes their form has silenced false talk of discontent in the dressing room.

"A month ago people were talking about unrest. We always knew there was none within the squad and the motivation has come from the players wanting to prove that it was all talk."

He told the Daily Express: "Everyone is happy and it's important that we keep going in the same direction.

Swansea take on surprise high-fliers West Brom at the Liberty Stadium on Wednesday night and Rangel hopes his side can put a stop to their hot run of form.

He added: "They're the surprise of the season. But at some point they have to lose and hopefully they will on Wednesday."
