Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool still have a chance of a top-four finish this season.

The veteran defender came off the bench in Saturday's 3-0 win over Wigan at Anfield, which stretched the Reds' unbeaten run to seven games.

The victory leaves Liverpool eight points adrift of surprise package West Brom in fourth and four behind in Arsenal in sixth, but Carragher believes the open nature of this season's league can work in their favour.

"Teams are dropping points all over the place," the 34-year-old said.

"We look at it as if we haven't had a great start to the season but winning yesterday we're not too far off the top four, which is where we want to be.

"From our own point of view, we want to push on and make a challenge for the top four.

"It seems like if everyone is throwing it away it is still up for grabs."
