Michael Laudrup admitted he was relieved to have got three points in his Swansea side's victory over Wigan at the Liberty Stadium.

Swansea had gained just two points from their last five Premier League games and, after a first half that demonstrated the nerves on show, they suffered an anxious last quarter of the game after goals from Pablo Hernandez and Michu had given them a 2-0 lead.

Emmerson Boyce scored soon after and Swansea were forced to defend admirably for the last 10 minutes of the game.

With a tough run of upcoming games, the Dane knew it was important to hold on for the win.

"That's just football," said Laudrup. "You dominate the second half completely and go up two goals, and then they score and suddenly the game changes completely.

"We had to suffer a lot for the last 20 minutes, but in the end we won the game and we now have 11 points.

"It was so important to score goals and to win the game, especially with what is coming up"

"Looking down there are a lot of teams on four or five points, so it is nice to have 11.

"It was so important to score goals and to win the game, especially with what is coming up.

"We have Manchester City and Chelsea in the league and Liverpool away in the cup."

Swansea now sit in 10th place in the league, only three points off the top four and eight points ahead of the relegation zone.
