Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo insists a decision is yet to be made over whether goalkeeper Petr Cech will require elbow surgery next summer.
The Czech Republic's team doctor claimed earlier this week that Cech would need to go under the knife on the long-standing problem after being given permission to sit out international friendlies for the foreseeable future.
But Di Matteo says the Blues are monitoring the 30-year-old's condition and is adamant surgery is not a forgone conclusion.
The manager said: "Petr's problem is an issue we've been managing. It's not decided yet whether he'll need anything done.
"It's something he's been playing with some period now and it's not an issue now.
"If he stays without pain, it's very possible he'll just play on like that.
"If not, the medical department in conjunction with the player will make a decision."
