Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has praised in-form forward Franco Di Santo after the Latics' 2-2 draw with Stoke on Saturday. Di Santo followed up his effort at Southampton last time out by scoring Wigan's second goal before Peter Crouch found a late equaliser for the visitors at the DW Stadium. Despite playing more than 100 games, the Argentine's neat strike was the first time he had netted in back-to-back games in English football. And Martinez is delighted that Di Santo is finally showing fans what he is capable of.

Potential

"I always knew Franco was a striker with tremendous potential," Martinez said. "Remember that he arrived in this country (in 2008) at a really young age and had to learn quickly. "He is a striker with a tremendous touch, great finishing and energy and I think he can be outstanding in every aspect as a centre-forward. "You look at the second goal and it is as good as you are going to see in terms of centre-forward play. "He is doing his duties defensively, in the counter-attack there is outstanding link-up play with his partner, and then he is as composed as you can be in the box. "The play between Arouna (Kone) and Franco was outstanding for that goal and that is why you get a little bit frustrated - because a goal like that deserves all three points."
