Tottenham defender understood to have agreed switch

Sky Sports sources understand that Tottenham Hotspur defender Sebastien Bassong has agreed to sign for Norwich City. Bassong is a long way down the pecking order at White Hart Lane after new manager Andre Villas-Boas strengthened his defensive options with the signing of Jan Vertonghen. Younes Kaboul, William Gallas, Michael Dawson and Steven Caulker are also fighting for places at centre-back, leaving Bassong surplus to requirements. Bassong has been with Spurs since 2009, while he spent time out on loan at Wolverhampton Wanderers last season. The Cameroon international had previously made his name in English football at Newcastle, where he played under Chris Hughton. Hughton is now the manager of Norwich and is understood to be keen on a reunion with Bassong. The Canaries would appear to be in need of reinforcements at the back after being thrashed 5-0 by Fulham on the opening day of the season.
