Sam Allardyce is keen to add more new faces to his West Ham squad 'as quickly as possible' as they prepare for their return to the Premier League.

The Hammers have already brought in four fresh signings with the captures of goalkeepers Jussi Jaaskelainen and Stephen Henderson, midfielder Mohamed Diame and defender George McCartney.

But manager Allardyce says he has not finished bolstering his squad, with several out-of-contract players having already left.

He told the club's official website: "Right now, our main (aim) is to improve the quality of the squad and get some new faces in as quickly as possible.

"That has been the most difficult task of the summer."

West Ham have been linked with a host of targets ahead of their return to the top-flight following promotion last season, including Inter Milan veteran Dejan Stankovic and Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.
