Queens Park Rangers boss Mark Hughes admits new signing Park Ji-sung is a leading candidate to take the captain's armband at Loftus Road.
Park completed a switch to the capital from Manchester United on Monday, with a two-year contract put in place.
The 31-year-old boasts vast Premier League, European and international experience and is considered to be quite a coup for QPR.
The South Korean midfielder will be expected to lead from the front next term, as Hughes attempts to avoid being dragged into another basement battle.
Park is already considered to be an on-field leader, but he could inherit the captaincy from Joey Barton.
Natural fit
Barton has been stripped of that responsibility after being sent off in the final game of last season against Manchester City and being stung with a 12-game ban and six-week fine.
"Ji will come into my thinking in terms of a new captain for the club," said Hughes.
"I'll have to see who steps up and who is a natural fit for it. I'm sure people will want the role and to show me they are the right for it and that includes Ji.
"But we've got other guys as well with experience, Djibril Cisse is a Champions League winner so we have good characters in the dressing room who could take on the mantle."
