Wigan boss Roberto Martinez admits he will be looking to add at least three players to his squad during the summer transfer window.

The Spaniard is happy with those already at his disposal, but appreciates that fresh faces are required if the Latics are to avoid being dragged into another Premier League basement battle.

He will not be rushing into the market, though, with it important that time is taken in the identifying of targets.

For now he is looking forward to getting back into pre-season training and shaping the Latics for 2012/13.

Experience

Once he knows what he needs, Martinez will then look to dip into the DW Stadium bank balance.

"The best news of the transfer window for us is keeping the core of the squad together, something that has been the main aim for this period and something we're all very excited about," he told the club's official website.

"Over the next week I want to see how the players return and respond to the work ahead. After that we'll look to make some additions to the squad.

"I do feel as though we need at least two players with experience and a younger face which will help to make the perfect number of the group."
