Jonas Olsson: To hold talks with Steve Clarke over his West Brom future
New West Brom manager Steve Clarke is looking forward to meeting Jonas Olsson and discussing his future at the club following Sweden's elimination from Euro 2012.
The 29-year-old has only one year left on his current deal and stressed he would not contemplate his own future while his country were in action in Ukraine.
But their interest in the competition has ended and now Clarke plans to speak with Olsson, who has been linked with a move elsewhere.
West Ham and Tottenham are both understood to be interested in Olsson but Clarke is determined to keep him at The Hawthorns.
The Baggies boss has made it clear that he does not want to lose any of his key men this summer and only wants to strengthen his squad.
"I didn't want to intrude too much because Jonas was out there representing his country and it was a big tournament for him," Clarke told the Express and Star.
"Unfortunately it hasn't worked out for Sweden but I wanted to leave Jonas just to concentrate on his country.
"Hopefully between now and the report back for training date, I'll get the chance to meet him and have a chat with him.
"Ideally I want to keep all the contracted players and bring in another two or three that can help them.
"That would be the ideal scenario, although it doesn't always work out like that. Jonas is a key player for the team and the club and I'll do what I can to keep him here."
