Defender dislocated shoulder against QPR

Tottenham defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto will miss the rest of the season after suffering a dislocated shoulder, manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed. The left-back sustained the damage during Spurs' 1-0 defeat at QPR last Saturday, while he is also suffering with a knee injury and will not feature in the side's remaining four Premier League games. His absence strikes a blow for the North Londoners, who have hit an untimely bad patch of form, losing their last three in all competitions. Redknapp told Spurs' official website on Friday: "He actually dislocated his shoulder against QPR. "He's also got a problem with his knee so yes, it looks like he's out for the season." Assou-Ekotto joins Niko Kranjcar (knee), Tom Huddlestone (ankle) and Michael Dawson (ankle) on Tottenham's long-term injury list, with the trio also ruled out until next season. Spurs' recent slide has seen them slip into fifth place to cast doubt over their hopes of UEFA Champions League qualification as they prepare to face relegation-threatened Blackburn on Sunday.
