Alan Pardew has revealed injured duo Sylvain Marveaux and Gabriel Obertan are closing in on first-team returns for Newcastle United.
Marveaux has not played for the Magpies since November's 2-1 win over Everton with hip and groin injuries, while former Manchester United man Obertan has missed the past five weeks with a knock.
Pardew believes with another week's training under their belts the duo could be back in the frame for Saturday's trip to the DW Stadium to do battle with relegation-threatened Wigan Athletic.
Newcastle are currently fourth in the Premier League ladder and on course to secure a place in UEFA Champions League qualifying and Pardew is delighted to be getting all hands back on deck for their end of season run in.
"We're getting everyone back, and with another week's training for Marveaux and Obertan, they'll be in the frame," Pardew told the Shields Gazette.
"We're in a great position. We've got to try and play the best we can in the four games left.
"We had four or five come back. It was almost like a cup final was around the corner when everybody's suddenly fit.
"It's not just that you're hanging injuries out when things aren't going well. At times, you just want to contribute. You might feel it still, but you want to be back."
