Feyenoord's sporting director says the club would welcome Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt back to De Kuip but feels a summer move is unlikely.

Club chief doubts how realistic it is that Kuyt will return this summer

Feyenoord sporting director Martin van Geel says the club would welcome Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt back to De Kuip but feels a move this summer is unlikely. Kuyt has not always been in top form at Anfield this season and revealed earlier this week he could be forced to consider his future with the Reds if he does not play more regularly next term. The 31-year-old Netherlands international has been linked with a return to former club Feyenoord and Van Geel is hopeful he will eventually rejoin the Eredivisie giants, but admits it is unlikely to happen in the upcoming transfer window. "I would love to welcome Dirk at Feyenoord as soon as possible. He fits in here more than anybody else," Van Geel was quoted as saying by NUsport. "He is more than welcome at the club. However, I do not think that it's realistic to believe that he could return this summer."

Return

Kuyt is keen to return to his former club at some point, according to his representative Rob Jansen. But the agent claims the forward, who is contracted on Merseyside until summer 2013, is yet to make a decision about his immediate future. "Feyenoord know that Dirk will join them once he returns to Netherlands. But when? It's impossible to answer that question," said Jansen. "We are just waiting to see what happens at Liverpool now and what's coming his way. We will make a decision on his future after that."
